 The following day, at the S. lppolito sports-ground, the knights representing the four districts of Piazza Armerina participate in the so-called “quintana”, the most colourful part of the whole three day event.
The knights challenge one another in tests of skill and ability, being awarded points on the basis of their performance. Naturally, the team with the highest number of points wins. The public watch these competitions with great enthusiasm, everyone giving vocal support to their district. The prize for the knights of the winning team is the famous standard portraying Our Lady of Victories, which is kept in the parish church of the victorious district for a year, until the next competition.
