San Lorenzo al Patrisanto |
Originally, this church was called " S. Maria di Patrisanto" and dates back to 1100. In the 16th century its name changed into "Chiesa Sacramentale di S. Lorenzo". In 1698 it was donated to the "Chierici Regolari Teatini", who fully transformed it, so the inhabitants of Piazza began to commonly call it church of Teatini.
Fortunately, the medieval remains of the lateral portals and the small windows, similar to those of the splendid church of Sant' Andrea, are still visible. Inside the church, with its three naves, the baroque frescos and stuccos can still be admired. The numerous paintings that once embellished the lateral altars are now kept elsewhere.
