| Sant'Andrea Priory |
|
A typical example of Sicilian medieval art, the structure has a simple aspect and the only luxuries are the main and lateral access portals with sharp, recessed arches. Interior natural light is obtained through small openings located along the entire lateral façade. Restoration works performed last century have brought to light some frescos that although damaged, have been repaired and relocated; these represent an interesting proof of medieval Sicilian art. The paintings are dated between the twelfth and fifteenth century and depict figures of saint and angels, such as the Crucifixion of St. Andrew, La Madonna dalla faccia grande’, the ‘Pietà’ and the Resurrection.
