 Outside the town there are several buildings of architectural interest worth visiting. The Grand Priory of Saint Andrew, a typical example of Sicilian medieval art, whose frescos are dated between the twelfth and fifteenth century;
the Convent of Santa Maria di Gesù, founded in the first half of the fourteenth century, whose porch with pillars serves as a base for a gallery with segmental arches supported by thin coloumns; the Sanctuary of Piazza Vecchia, which is so called, because according to tradition this is where the old Piazza (Plutia) was situated before being destroyed by William I.
