Philip is a Saint, whose date of commemoration in Sicily is not certain: it depends on local customs. At Piazza Armerina he is celebrated on 11th May. Among the roaring shots of fire crackers, shouting "Viva San Fulippu!"(Long live Saint Philip),
the statue of the Saint is carried in a procession on the shoulders of young devotees from the church dedicated to him, in the quarter of Casalotto, along the streets of the town, followed by a large crowd of believers and behind multicolored mules rigged up for the collection of gifts, that the Saint will be offered during the procession.
